Hello my name is John and I am the owner and currently the sole contributor to Continuous Learning Journal.com.
A little bit about me
Occupation: I am a Manufacturing Engineer and I work primarily in electronics and light assembly. I have over a decade of experience as an engineer and I was even recently promoted (2022) into a supervisor role. I absolutely love my job and all the challenges that come with it. I often joke with those around me that my hobby is my job. My favorite thing about being an engineer is learning about new tools, processes, as well as working with my coworkers to solve problems and implement solutions to them. I have specialized in Continuous Improvement, specifically LEAN with some Six Sigma exposure as well. I am a certified LEAN green belt practitioner and have been for a little over 3 years now. I am planning to get my Black belt in LEAN within the next 2 years.
Location: Without giving too much away I live in Michigan around the Muskegon area. This is a great place to live and I have loved every second of being in this area for the last several years. Having quick access to the beach on hot summer days is an absolute blessing! There is also a fair amount of hiking and walking trails which I try to do throughout the summer with my family.
Interests: I LOVE to read, it is one of my biggest hobbies. I love every medium of reading whether I am listening to an Audio book, reading on the Kindle app or reading an actual soft or hard cover book. To date I have read approximately 262 books but I have a lifetime goal of achieving 2,000. My favorite genre is Fantasy but I also love self help books and a little bit of mystery/thriller. I have a lot of favorite authors but to name a few in no particular order: Terry Goodkind, Terry Brooks, Patrick Rothfuss, L.E. Modessitt Jr., Jim Butcher, John C. Maxwell, Brandon Sanderson, Robert Jordan, and there are many many more. A recent genre I started exploring is LitRPG. I love the video game vibes and the quirky writing styles, they are just genuinely fun. Outside of reading I also love watching scary movies with my family, playing video games with my kids (mostly the Meta 2 lately), watching YouTube (guilty pleasure), and journaling or as I like to call it, "chicken scratching" because my hand writing is abysmal. No seriously look at this.
